As it turns out, the phrase “New Year, new you” doesn’t just apply to people – it applies to our homes as well.

Planning on giving your home a makeover this year? Here are some of the 2024 real estate design trends you can use on your Cleveland home:

Embrace curves

According to interior design experts, one of the biggest real estate design trends for this year is the use of curved furniture like sectional sofas, dining tables, or coffee tables. This, design experts say, is an offshoot of the biophilic design trend of the previous years, which emphasizes organic-looking shapes and promotes a soft, calm energy that makes for a welcoming space in the home.

Peach is in

Color experts at Pantone have named Peach Fuzz as 2024’s color of the year. This velvety hue, which sits right between pink and orange, exudes a warm, cozy, and sensual glow, adapts well to home interiors. If you’d like to apply this color to your home, start by getting peach-colored accent pieces such as velvet footstools, throw pillows, and lamps for your living room. If you feel like going bigger and bolder, paint a wall or two in this lovely shade.

Turn your home into a gallery

Another real estate design trend that’s set to make a splash this year is art curation. No longer reserved for museums, curating and displaying art pieces is another way to add oomph to one’s home.

One easy way to do this is by creating a gallery wall, which will allow you to display all of the artwork and photos you have managed to collect over the years. Think about the layout of your artwork, the cohesiveness of the frames and mounting, the distance between each item, and the overall look to make your wall look professional but personally meaningful.

Self-care and wellness are still in vogue

When it comes to real estate forecasts for 2024, experts say home improvements related to self-care and wellness are still in. This includes renovating bathrooms to make them feel like luxury spas, adding cold plunge pools to outdoor spaces, and investing in indoor gym equipment.

Go metallic

One of the biggest real estate forecasts for 2024 – especially for those with a bold and experimental aesthetic – is the use of metal and metal-inspired finishes on your furniture and decor. Think large reflecting mirrors, gleaming side tables, coppery light fixtures, and cool, silver-toned shelving.

To ensure that your home doesn’t look like a clinic or showroom, use a mix of different finishes like brass and nickel or chrome and bronze. For a more fun and modern twist, you can also check if there are metallic paint versions of your favorite colors and paint them on side tables and accent chairs, for example.

Bring the outdoors in

Seamless outdoor to indoor transition has remained a trend since forever and 2024 is no different. If you don’t have the large windows or retractable glass doors to make this happen, mimic your home’s exterior palette inside. Aside from colors, blend the materials found outside your home in your interior design. Apply the beadboard porch ceiling on a dining room wall, for example. Doing so will bring the outdoors in and achieve a timeless and cohesive look.
