The seasons may be changing soon but there’s still plenty of time for you and the family to enjoy the last days of summer. Here are some of the best things to do in and around Chagrin Falls just before the fall kicks in.
- Go to the beach
You don’t have to travel far to cool off. Nearby Cleveland is home to fantastic beaches along Lake Erie offering a host of activities – from swimming and kayaking to playing volleyball and picnicking on the shores.
The closest place to go is Euclid Beach, which is only a 30 minute drive from Chagrin Falls. Euclid Beach features shaded areas perfect for picnicking as well as an observation deck where you can get the best views of Lake Erie. It also welcomes pets so you can bring your four-legged friend with you.
Just south of Euclid Beach is Edgewater Beach, where you can enjoy the sun and water all day and some partying at night. Edgewater Beach features food trucks, a pavilion, and an area for live entertainment where the Edgewater Live summer concert series is staged every Thursday night.
- Perfect your golf game
The public golf course at Chagrin Falls’ Tanglewood Club has hosted Northern Ohio PGA Tour and LPGA events so it’s a great course for serious players to test their skills. But with four tees to choose from including lady’s tees, the course welcomes players of all skill levels including beginners looking to improve their game. You can play 9 holes or 18 holes, or simply practice your shots on the putting green or the driving range. The club’s bar and grill is the perfect place to wind down after a day at the greens.
- Explore Chagrin River
Chagrin River runs 71 miles from Geauga County, southwest to Chagrin Falls, and northward to Lake Erie. It cascades into three waterfalls at Chagrin Falls around which the scenic village was built. But while Chagrin Falls locals get to enjoy this wonderful view any time of the year, the river offers more activities other than sightseeing.
You can swim in the river in the Chagrin Falls area, with the cold water offering the perfect escape from the summer heat. The river is also regularly stocked with steelhead trout making it a favorite among anglers in the region.
Along Chagrin River are several trails that will take you through forested areas with fantastic views and plenty of opportunities for bird watching. Just a short drive from Chagrin Falls is Chagrin River Park which boasts a paved scenic trail going through dense shrubs, forests, and wetland areas where you can spot various bird and wildlife species.
